And the buckle goes to.

Tonight as I was getting ready to go to bed I found the CMT music awards show was on. I love, love country music. When I moved to Nashville I couldn't listen to it for 5 seconds without changing the channel. Then I got struck with the country music bug.
Watching the show really made me miss living there. I kind of laugh about it because I can listen to country music here and watch videos here but for some reason don't. Now all I talk or think about is politics.

Stefanie, Liz and I's former neighbor was one of the presenters with Snoop Dog. It was so fun to Jason Aldean making it! He was so patient while trying to start his music career.

So I started thinking of all the fun stars I saw while living in Nashville.

  • JoDee Mesina at a Mexican restaurant
  • Faith Hill at a cafe with her two kids in historic Franklin
  • Martina McBride walking out of the restaurant she ate at before I saw her in concert
  • Amy Grant and Vince Gill at the YMCA
  • The lead singer for Nickel Creek stood in line with me at the Pancake Pantry
  • Alan Jackson at the GAP in the mall
  • Ryan Shupe and SheDaisy at church
  • Naomi Judd at another Mexican restaurant and she came up to us and commented on how cute Caroline was. She was about 6 months old. She squeezed her cheeks even. I tried to act like she wasn't famous but wanted to get up and hug her.
  • thanks for the reminder Jill... how can i forget Carrie Underwood moved into my neighborhood (the nice part) right before we moved and she was outside playing football with some guy and I made Jeff turn the car around and we pulled up to her and I said, "I love you. Congrats on winning American Idol. you are so cute" I was star struck for sure and Jeff was so embarrassed and starting pulling the car away while i was still talking to her. She is even more beautiful in person.

I saw seriously almost everyone else in country music perform live on stage thanks to all the free tickets Stefanie gave me!

Have you ever seen a country star?

So cool! I love country music too as long as it isn't too "red-neck" :) The twangy stuff just seems to hit a nerve with me. I have see Reba Mcintyre, Leann Womack, George Straight in concert but never anyone up close like yu have. The CMT awards were pretty good this year.

Wow, you did see a lot of country stars. What about the time you stopped to talk to Carrie Underwood and embarrassed Jeff?

I missed the CMT awards, but am hoping to catch a re-run on CMT sometime. Last weekend I was watching highlights from years past and it was fun to watch the clips from the years I was there. I loved going to all that stuff.

I am so jealous!!! Its funny what you said about now only being interested in Politics - our environment certainly affects our lives. Imagine living in Melbourne, after having grown up in Houston - not many people listen to country music, most people think your weird!!!! I have a Houston Country Music station on my computer at work so I can listen (quietly) while I work!!! After reading your post I remember so many funny things - but its too much to write here so I think you just gave me my post for today - check out my blog. Have a wonderful weekend - Mandi...xxxx

Nope...not up close, well that's not true. The Alabama lead singer was at a stock show in Denver (where his cattle were being showed) and I watched every move he made until that particular class of heifers was shown.

But...I'm waiting to bump into George Strait someday.

Oh geez. The country in me just said "where his cattle were being showed" instead of shown. Maybe Toby Keith needs me to help him write a few songs.

Cute. I guess I haven't caught the bug because I usually change the station within seconds... I loved the story about Carrie Underwood and Jeff pulling away before you were finished!

Does Greg Kinnear count?

We lived in Nashville for some time as well -- I actually accompanied the Osborn/SheDaisy girls when they would sing in our ward at church. Kelsi was our Primary chorister when I was the Pres. Lots of fun! We saw many, many country stars during our time there.

Taylor Swift last year at my husband's work. The company had music lawn concerts during lunchtime a couple times last summer. After she played a few songs she signed posters and took a picture with anyone who wanted one. nice!

oh boy. Living in the outskirts of Nashville for all of my 38 years, I have seen some Country Music stars.....
Let's see....
I will only name a few:

Reba McIntyre at Green Hills Mall,
Dolly Parton at a drug store in Brentwood, Faith Hill in Brentwood, and on and on....
I have seen Naomi several times, but the best was when I saw Wynonna (is that how you spell it?) We were at Elliston Place and she was getting on her Harley outside the restaurant and she fell over! Oh me! It was so very funny (and she was ok) but was trying to be cool and looked like a goof!
We know Kix Brooks from Brooks & Dunn....
but my most star-struck moment was at the airport and I saw Stevie Wonder! :)
Do you miss Pancake Pantry????!

I listened to country for a few short months sophomore year in high school because I liked a boy who liked country music. Very shallow of me, I know. Haven't seen any lately...except that whole Ryan Shupe playing at my wedding 10 years ago.

Kelsey from shedaisy took our family pictures in Kaua'i. She did a great job and I'm glad I didn't realize it was her untill afterwards because I would have been mortified!!!! We did get to know her and her hubby pretty well after hanging out with them for 45 min! Hello!!! Did I say I was dense or what??!! BTW the pictures turned out fab and was used as my Christmas card!
