Welcome to a new kind of Fairy Camp

SJ started school last week or as I tried to tell her is was a new kind of fairy camp. It is still preschool so only a few days a week. She was not one bit excited when I told her that she would be getting dressed and leaving me and her tea party friends. She fought the whole way to meet the teacher day, but was nice enough to pose for one photo. She brought the class library a book about her summer and put this photo on the inside.
Sally Jane was not very happy the afternoon we took pictures at the Eiffel tower.

you would think that food items and

and new play people would excite her for her new Fairy Camp location
but it didn't work. This was a photo taken of her screaming on the way home. I was driving the car but put my cell phone up and backwards to take the photo. She screamed the hour before school, the hour after, came home and peed on the floor. It was not a great day.
She is doing better this week but still has to be convinced to go each morning. (look at her still Joe Dirt hair cut)
good thing there is a sanctuary upstairs from the school when I need a quiet moment and regroup from the Fairy Camp transfer.

Now I have my own kind of Fairy Camp at home all alone!
ohh la la!

She'll get the hang of it soon. My little Natalie saw her crying in the photo and said that she will come and make her feel better with a BIG hug!

Enjoy your alone time...you deserve it!

Oh I love this post because I have been going through a parallel experience in my own home with my Jack. He would prefer to stay home than go to preschool - we too started last week. I have a hard time getting him to get dressed to go. So I have been bribing him with a donut run on the way each time. :-) That needs to stop soon!

I have had that experience as well, Kristi. Hooray for you having your own fairy camp, though!!

oh I know I shouldn't laugh but this is just too much. those photos are hilarious... poor kid- POOR MOM!

brian- my missionary screamed & cried all the way up to 2 grade- now he is a branch president in Chile & coming home in two months! (Frankly I was worried in the beginning that he wouldn't make it)

One thing that really helped was having someone else drop him off - also riding the bus, but it was only available at one of his schools. He only threw fits for me, isn't that usually the case? that makes me so mad...
Finally I did this whole love & logic thing (it only took one afternoon) & it pretty much cured him. I don't think it would work for a preschooler-- good luck- I'm thinking of you!

SJ reminds me so much of Mark because he used to do the same thing! Can't wait to hear all about your "alone time." Tennis anyone? Knitting? Sleeping? All options are great. Have fun Kristi!

Sounds like things are a little tough at your house right now!!! One day she will appreicate this post!!! Maybe one day she will have a daughter just like her and you can remind her what she was like! I love the picture in Paris.....too precious!! Good luck and hang in there!!! One day they will all be in school all day long!

That photo of her screaming at the Eiffel Tower is fantastic! It's so real and so much better than a posed, angelic picture. I love it!

Oh Kristi, Jared and I are in the same boat. He was soooo super excited to start back to school, and the first day was fabulous, but after that it has been a BIG struggle. He tells me the teachers are mean, he would rather stay home with me, that I don't come back, on and on. I finally made a sticker chart, with the incentive that if he has a good drop off he can put a sticker on and work towards getting a special toy he wants. Maybe this would work with SJ?

I LOVE the pic of her and the eiffel tower!!

This is what I have decided after my month long going to school ordeal. We are just too darn fun!!! We need to be mean & yelling moms so they want to leave us (wink). Just kidding, a treasure box worked wonders over here. Everyday Amberly didn't cry when she went to school she got to come home and get something out of it. It's been 6 weeks and Friday was our best day so far! Good luck - and man do I feel your pain♥

Kristy, your daughter looks like one of the "whos" in that picture w/the Eiffel Tower...I could not stop laughing when I saw it...I know that I shouldn't have but she very cute in that picture. I am sure that that she will get the hang of it soon enough and your most of your troubles will be over.

Enjoy your alone time!

My Carly was always the hop down and jump in the action girl until all of a sudden she started having these horrific transitions from me into her preschool. This came after years of daycare drop offs and a couple of months of drop offs in this same preschool room. It started weighing on me so much that I finally told my husband that he had to do it a couple of days. He is the playmate and frequently the "fun one" but he also is a little no nonsense. He took her a couple of days and unceremoniously pushed her into the door and left. She said after 3 days that she wanted me to take her. I told her that I couldn't because the way she was acting was making me too sad. 2 more days of dad and I got "I promise no more crying just hug and kisses".
